Since qualifying as a patent attorney in 2005, Ms. Hyekyung Lim has specialized in intellectual property matters in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields for both domestic and international clients. She has extensive practical experience in life sciences and biotechnology technologies, particularly in the areas of microorganisms, nucleic acids, proteins, antibodies, genes, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food products, and health functional foods.
Ms. Lim’s practice covers a broad range of intellectual property services, including domestic and international patent prosecution, Office Action responses, prior-art searches and patentability assessments, IP consulting, patent landscape analyses, government-sponsored IP-R&D projects, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, infringement analyses, and advisory services relating to patent disputes. She provides comprehensive IP services throughout the entire innovation cycle, from developing patent strategies at the early stages of research and development to securing patent rights, technology commercialization, enforcement of intellectual property rights, and dispute resolution.
Ms. Lim also has extensive experience in international patent filings and global patent portfolio management. Working closely with foreign associates in multiple jurisdictions, she advises clients on international patent strategies, country-specific filing and prosecution matters, and global IP risk management.
Drawing upon her in-depth understanding of life sciences, including molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, and pharmaceutical sciences, together with her extensive experience in patent practice, Ms. Lim advises and represents domestic and international clients, including large corporations, small- and medium-sized enterprises, venture companies, universities, and research institutions. Her practice includes patent prosecution, patent and technology analyses, IP portfolio development, technology commercialization, and patent dispute matters.
Ms. Lim is a member of the Korean Patent Attorneys Association (KPAA) and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and currently serves as an Academic Director of AIPPI Korea.
