Mr. Hong-il Kim is a patent attorney and partner at LEE & MOCK IP. He passed the Korean Patent Attorney Examination in 2017 and since then has handled a wide range of domestic and international intellectual property matters.
Based on his academic background in materials science and engineering and a deep understanding of materials and metallurgy, Mr. Kim possesses strong technical expertise in accurately analyzing technologies in major industries, such as steel and displays, allowing him to develop optimal patent procurement strategies for clients. Based on this foundation, his work spans rapidly evolving advanced technology sectors including display devices, steel materials, and secondary batteries. Mr. Kim represents a wide range of clients in patent prosecution and strategic IP matters. Leveraging his broad technical expertise, he identifies key technological and business considerations to develop practical, tailored IP strategies aligned with each client’s objectives. In addition to securing patent rights in Korea and internationally, Mr. Kim counsels clients on a broad spectrum of IP issues, including patent validity and invalidity analyses, infringement assessments, competitive product analysis, design-around strategies, R&D strategy counseling, and patent portfolio development. His practice focuses on helping clients strengthen, protect, and maximize the value of their technological innovations.
