Sunmi Kim is a patent attorney and partner at LEE & MOCK IP, where she provides a broad range of intellectual property services across various technical fields, including electrical and electronics, telecommunications, AI/software, business methods, semiconductors, and healthcare/medical devices.
Since passing the Korean Patent Attorney Examination in 2003, Ms. Kim has handled a wide variety of patent matters, including domestic and foreign patent and utility model applications, patent searches and analyses, freedom-to-operate (FTO) and infringement analyses, patent trials, litigation and dispute resolution, and advisory and consulting services.
In particular, Ms. Kim has extensive practical experience in standard-essential patent management for technologies such as 3G LTE, broadband communications, and MPEG, as well as in technical fields including image processing, speech recognition and synthesis, electric vehicles, autonomous robots, drones, edutech, fintech, and heavy industry technologies. She also proposes intellectual property strategies tailored to each stage of the process, including initial idea review, patent filing, prosecution, and portfolio management, while taking into account the technology development process and commercialization direction of venture companies and small- and medium-sized enterprises.
In addition, based on her experience in IP-R&D, FTO analysis for commercial products, dispute resolution, and advisory services, she provides practical and strategic IP solutions aligned with each client’s business direction and technical characteristics.
