Ms. Hyewon You passed the Korean Patent Attorney Examination in 2005 and has since handled a wide range of intellectual property matters, with a particular focus on electrical and electronic technologies. She has extensive practical experience in domestic and foreign patent prosecution, Office Action responses, technology analysis, and IP strategy development in advanced technology fields, including software, artificial intelligence (AI), image quality processing, and audio standard patent technologies, as well as medical device technologies such as intraoral scanners.

From 2011 to 2014, Ms. You worked as a senior researcher in the legal department of a global electronics company. As an in-house patent attorney at a large corporation, she gained broad experience in patent portfolio development, intellectual property management, collaboration with business divisions, and the formulation of technology-based IP strategies. Through this experience, she developed a deep understanding of IP practice in close alignment with corporate technology development and business strategies.

Ms. You also has experience in successfully representing that company in an appeal litigation against a trial decision, leading the case to a favorable outcome. She has strong practical capabilities in analyzing legal and technical issues, developing response strategies, interpreting patent rights, and handling disputes at the patent trial and litigation stages.

From 2017 to 2018, Ms. You completed an IP LL.M. program at a U.S. law school, where she studied the U.S. legal system, U.S. patent law, and U.S. patent practice in depth. As a result, she also possesses professional expertise in foreign patent practice and global IP strategy.

In addition, since passing the Korean Patent Attorney Examination, Ms. You has served as an advisor to the Korea Technology Finance Corporation and has conducted numerous technology evaluation projects. She has also accumulated experience in evaluating the technological value and commercialization potential of technologies owned by venture companies and small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Drawing on this diverse background, Ms. You professionally and systematically handles a broad range of intellectual property matters, including drafting domestic and foreign patent specifications, responding to Office Actions, conducting technology analysis, reviewing claim scope, assessing infringement issues, evaluating the technological value of venture companies and SMEs, and conducting R&D patent trend analyses.
