The Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP) has overhauled its "Deferred Exam System," which allows applicants to postpone patent examinations to align with their business commercialization schedules.
Previously, applicants were unable to change their deferred examination date once two months had passed since the initial application. However, under the newly implemented amendment, applicants can now advance, postpone, or withdraw their deferred examination date at any time before the examiner begins the review. This update significantly enhances convenience for applicants.
